Previous Reunions:
The 2017
(21st
annual)
reunion meeting was reluctantly cancelled due
to insufficient registration and interest! It was scheduled
to be held at the Bavarian Inn in
Shepherdstown, WV,
October 3 - 5, 2017.
The
2016
(20th
annual)
reunion meeting was held in
Saint Augustine, FL on
September 13, 14, & 15, 2016. Once again we met
at the
Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites hotel
located in the historic district.
Eight couples were in attendance and the group had dinner together
Tuesday evening at the hotel. On Wednesday, we took a trolley tour of
St. Augustine and then saw various sights. Most enjoyed a seafood
spot for dinner. Thursday brought more sightseeing and the annual short
meeting followed by dinner together at a nearby restaurant. Everyone
there agreed that they wanted to continue meeting each year.
We gathered together each evening (and several other times) at the hotel
lobby and reminisced. Many stories were told as we relived some of our
adventures with the Highway Patrol. All seemed to have a good time.
Paul & Theresa Elmstrom, (FL) made the
arrangements for this reunion. They were aided by Wayne & Rosemarie
Leviska, (FL). George & Carol Eder, (WI) traveled the furthest
distance. Others present included Gerd (Fritz) & Nancy Konieczny, TN);
John & Lynn Hofman, (FL); Cordy &
Walburga Winburn, (SC) and Cordy’s son Richard and his
wife Larry & Lillian Linville (VA) were also there.
Several members had to cancel their reservations due to medical
situations. Ray Emala had planned to attend but a persisting problem
forced him to miss the gathering, however, he sent some
Highway Patrol belts and buckles that he had arranged to be made to the
reunion with the stipulation that proceeds from their sale would be
donated to the association. That was done, and we thank him for his efforts on behalf of the 82nd
HP. Eugene and Patricia Klompus also had to cancel at the last minute
as Pat was not feeling up to par. Gene kept in touch with what was
happening and provided input.
he

17, 2015. Our hotel venue was the Quality Inn. Fifteen
members, spouses and guests attended. John and Eileen Marshal were
with us each day and gave tours of the area and many sites. The
group ate dinner together each evening, twice at 14 Bones where we
enjoyed fine cosine. Many of us ate lunch daily at Barney's
Restaurant (Barney Fife). Although the turnout was small, all had
fun and agreed that they wished to continue with the annual activity.

annual)
reunion meeting was held in Ocean City, Maryland on September 23, 24,
and

located on the boardwalk and faced the ocean. The hotel offered
several amenities and Ocean City had a number of places to visit and see
including
the Assateague National Seashore area and its wild ponies. We also
had some rain, however, we had very good companions, with 26 members and
guest present. We enjoyed gathering in the hospitality room and we
all enjoyed a dinner together at a facility in the hotel.
The

(17th
annual) reunion meeting was held
on October 1, 2, & 3 2013 in historic
Williamsburg, VA. at the
Clarion Hotel Historic District.
We had 38 members, spouses, and guests present. We enjoyed
the amenities of Colonial Williamsburg and the hotel provided a nice
spacious hospitality room for our daily use which "Smitty" and his son
Jeffery kept stocked for our pleasure. We enjoyed a sit
down, family style , colonial dinner while a lady dressed in period
costume as Martha Washington read several original letters from General
Washington that he had written to his wife from the battle lines while
he engaged the British troops during the Revolutionary War years. This was followed
by our business meeting where some very important but hard decisions
regarding our future reunions were decided. See the above section.
The
2012 (16th annual)
reunion meeting was held
on October 2, 3, & 4, 2012
at the Hyatt Place Hotel in
Charleston, SC. A group of twenty-one members and guests enjoyed
the dinner, hospitality, and gathering. The usual business was
discussed as was the need for more articles for the White Mice.
The

annual)
reunion meeting was held
on October 4, 5, & 6, 2011
at the Park Grove Inn in
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Great weather, many attractions, the Great
Smokey mountains all added to another great reunion. Thirty-three
members and guests enjoyed themselves as usual. Some of our
members could not attend due to illness and incapacitation. Gerd
and Nancy Konieczny set up the hospitality room and coordinated the
arrangements for the meal which was served. We all missed Smitty
and Irmgard as this is one of the very few meetings that Smitty has not
been able to attend. His presence, guidance, memories and stories
always help to make any meeting a success.

annual)
reunion meeting was held
on October 5, 6, & 7, 2010
at the Holiday Inn Hotel and
Suites in St. Augustine, Florida. We enjoyed nice weather, a
sightseeing tram tour of the city and the many attractions.
Our hosts, and those that assisted in the other many ways helped to make
this reunion and meeting another outstanding one. (I have not
attended one that was not memorable in one way or another.) You
can read Smitty's article in The White Mice for a more detailed
report of the meeting. As usual, we enjoyed each others
company and the stories and
remembrances.

annual)
reunion meeting was held
on October 5, 6, & 7, 2009
in the picturesque town of Mt. Airy, NC, the town where actor Andy
Griffith grew up. here. 55 people attended, and I think that a
good time was enjoyed by all in attendance. Most of us enjoyed a
police car tour of the town, and enjoyed visiting, shopping and the
friendly people. The meeting was well attended as was the final
dinner together. The meal was great and the comradeship as usual was
outstanding. This was the largest turnout so far. Lets hope
that we will see even more of our members at the next one!

Over thirty-six members and guests enjoyed the amenities of Branson and
the
camaraderie
of being with friends and associates. Illness and medical procedures kept some of us from
attending this one (your webmaster included) so I
cannot give you an accurate report on everything that occurred.
Perhaps there will be more information from those that attended that we
can post later.
